WHAT STARTED AS A HOBBY BECAME A WAY OF LIFE

Founder and owner Lia Marques is a Certified Dog Trainer that specializes in Dog Behavior and Dog Psychology. From an early age she always had a strong bond with animals, but never agreed with the idea of using dogs for human entertainment.

F.A.Q.

We are in Santa Clarita, CA but cover the Los Angeles metro area as well as Bakersfield and Orange County.

We believe aggression is the outcome of a problem, not the problem itself. We work with dogs in a holistic way, therefore aggression is one of the behaviors we work with, but our goal is always to create trusting and respectful relationships on both sides.

We are able to certify dogs in AKC S.T.A.R. PUPPY, CANINE GOOD CITIZEN, COMMUNITY CANINE and URBAN CANINE GOOD CITIZEN

We work in dog behaviorism and dog psychology. In a nut shell we become the translator of what your dog needs and work to solve those issues. Then we teach you how to better communicate and understand your dog so you can have the relationship you always wanted.

No, we don’t require that. However, if you need quick answers on how to solve some minor issues, scheduling a session is the quickest way to get there.

Dog Psychology means we work within the psychology of the dog. Communicating with the dog in a way that makes sense to them. The training is done through the language of the dog and we train the human to speak it.

Prey drive means a dog is in a state of fight. Aggression means the dog is in a state of fight. Whatever one wishes to call it, the dog is in a state of fight. The consequences will be the same.

Yes. A dog is a living being that learns rules and boundaries from their pack. Investing in a trainer is gifting your relationship with your dog a translator. Therefore you can pass on all the rules and boundaries that are important to your pack to them in way that makes sense to them.

In a Board and Train program the trainer does 90% of the work. In private sessions the owner does 90% of the work. It is an individual choice. With that being said, in a board and train, a dog gets a more immersive experience and the owners get to learn at a pace that is not overwhelming.

No. The same way it is never too late for us to start learning something new, it is never too late for a dog to learn something new. Making the decision and the investment to better the relationship is always going to be the right one. No matter anyone’s age.

Making a very broad statement here, but… I would bring both dogs to an evaluation and listen to the advice of the professional. And I would make sure that I was applying the rules and techniques the professional was using with the dog in training, with the one that was left at home.

Yes, We offer shadow programs, apprenticeships and mentorship programs.

Leash Reactivity – How to Cope And Address It?

During a recent dog assessment, a new client tried his hardest to justify his dog’s lunging and snapping at me saying: “He is great if I am not holding the leash. He really likes people. It’s only when I am holding the leash that he tries to bite them.” While I nodded and understood where he was coming from, that…

Pure Bred dogs and the State of the Union
Pure Bred Dogs and The State of The Union

As of the start of this month, I have had four unfortunate encounters with pure bred dogs. Not the type of adverse interactions that usually come to mind. None of these dogs have a bite history, two of them were super young puppies, and two of them have been a clients for almost two years. No, these meetings and the…
