At A Dog’s Life with Lia we believe that loving your dog means setting them up for success. We do not consider training as an option of last resort, on the contrary, we see it as one of the most fundamental acts of responsible dog ownership; an essential part of being a dog owner if you will.
DOG PSYCHOLOGY FOUNDATION
All of our training programs are based on dog psychology and aim to close the communication gap between canines and humans. The Puppy Preschool is the perfect foundation for pups. Since dogs learn better with their peers, in the preschool we coach young dogs in behaviors that are acceptable in the human world while they interact with other dogs and people. Think boarding school meets puppy playground. We make learning fun, focusing on the three stages of development (Follow – Play – Explore) while tailoring each lesson to fit the dog’s individual needs.
WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE PROGRAM
Owners receive weekly sessions in order to start understanding their puppy and their needs. Learning about the four states of mind, understanding the meaning of being present when working with a dog, the power of intention setting, and many more tools that extend beyond simply training your pup. We pride ourselves for working on the relationship between dogs and their humans. The success of our programs comes from teaching the human how to speak dog and feel confident when giving direction in a way that makes sense to a dog. After that, it is a simple matter of adding human words to desired behaviors (down, come, sit) since the communication line has been open.
The Puppy Preschool sets the foundation for a lifelong relationship, where the dog and the human not only understand each other, but work together to bring out the best versions of themselves.
The Puppy Preschool provides the foundation, knowledge and care to set you and your pup for success. It is a process of learning together and conquering milestones one step at a time. We are committed to making the relationship between you and your dog a successful and joyous one, providing a lifetime of support and encouragement in order to make that happen. In addition, boarding and daytime socials are offered exclusively for graduates of the training programs. This allows your pup to continue socializing and interacting with balanced dogs while you are away or have a busy schedule.
CGC Test Preparation
All graduates of Puppy Preschool are set up to be able to pass the Canine Good Citizen test. That means that they are taught words that can make it easier for owners to ask for specific behaviors. That also means that they have the foundation set up to eventually become a service animal or just the best companion one could ask for.
